Dre Parker (Jaden Smith), a boy of 12 who could be the most popular in Detroit, but his mother's career ends up taking them to China. Immediately, Dre falls for his classmate Mei Yin, but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre's feelings make the room bully and kung fu prodigy Cheng becomes your enemy. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng will show the "Karate Kid" that their expertise worthless. With no friends in a new city, Dre has no one to turn to except the janitor of his building Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), who is secretly a master of kung fu. As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is more punches and skill, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing the class bullies will be the adventure of a lifetime.
